After The Daily News had already gone to press Thursday evening, the Louisiana High School Athletic Association announced that Franklinton will pick up a win in its final game of the regular season, without even playing it.

Franklinton was scheduled to host Pearl River in a game Friday night, but the LHSAA ruled that the Demons’ opponent will not have enough eligible players and must forfeit the contest.

The LHSAA explained that Pearl River and Lakeshore played a game on Friday, Oct. 28, and there was a fight at the end of that game in which five Pearl River players were ejected for fighting. In addition, multiple Pearl River players left their bench after the fight.

In addition to Friday night’s forfeit, both Lakeshore and Pearl River must have a sportsmanship hearing at the end of the season, with both schools in attendance.

Franklinton finishes the regular season with a record of 5-5 overall, and 3-1 in District 8-4A.
