LSU’s Pierce finishes in 4-way tie for 1st in golf tournament

LSU golfer Brandon Pierce finished in a four-way tie for first place and the Tigers won the tournament at the David Toms Intercollegiate held Oct. 9 at the University Club.
Pierce, along with teammates Eric Richard, Luis Gagne and Sam Burns, shot a 215 over the three rounds for the first-place finish.
Pierce had rounds of 66, 76 and 73 for the 215.
McNeese State University’s Daniel O’Louglin was two strokes back for fifth place.
Pierce’s father, Chavgney Pierce, and his grandparents on his father’s side, Huey Pierce and Martha Pierce, are from Bogalusa. His mother, Rebecca Pierce, was an engineer at the Bogalusa paper mill and was a teacher at Bogalusa High School.
LSU cruised to the title in the event with a score of 853, as the top four golfers’ scores from each round are used to determine the team score.
The University of North Texas was second at 888, followed by McNeese’s 891, and University of South Alabama’s 897. Louisiana Tech tied the University of Louisiana at Lafayette at 914.
LSU’s is competing at The Country Club of Georgia in Alpharetta. The event began yesterday and runs through tomorrow.
