SLIDELL — The Franklinton-Salmen rivalry added another chapter to its history Friday night with the Demons winning a thriller, 32-26, in overtime.

It was the sixth time in the last 11 meetings between the two teams a game has been decided by 10 or fewer points, and the fifth time it was decided by one possession.

“We did a lot of things wrong, but they showed heart in the end and finished and that’s what you want your kids to do at this level,” Franklinton coach Stephen Burris said. “(Heck), you make some mistakes. You want to finish it at this end.”

During the postgame interview, Burris was given a Gatorade shower in celebration of the victory.
The game went to overtime tied at 26-26.

Franklinton got the ball first and Tahj Magee scored on fourth-and-goal from the 1. The extra point was no good, keeping it 32-26.

Salmen threw three incompletions. Franklinton jumped offsides. Salmen had the ball at the 5, but turned it over on downs, ending the game.

Magee threw for 341 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for two scores.

Darius Dawson caught 14 passes for 177 yards and a touchdown.
