The Punt, Pass and Kick competition takes place Sunday at Franklinton High School’s football field, beginning at 3 p.m.
“We are really looking forward to having 200 to 300 kids,” Punt, Pass and Kick coordinator Frankie Crosby said. “It’s a fun time for them. The parents have fun and it’s a good chance to spend quality time with your child.”
This is the 15th year that Crosby has conducted the competition.
He said they’ve had several good athletes win their age groups over the years.
Boys and girls ages 6 through 15 are eligible and there is no cost to enter. Each age group will have a boys and girls division. The age groups are 6-7s, 8-9s, 10-11s, 12-13s and 14-15s.
Each person will kick off a tee, throw and punt. The scores will be added and the winner of each age group will advance to the sectionals, which are at Fifth Ward Junior High School on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 9 a.m.
From there, the top four scores from the 12 sectionals in each age group advance to compete at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The competition at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome is a team championship.
Participants must present a copy of their birth certificate at the time of registration.
Students can sign up online by visiting www.nflppk.com or on the day of the competition.
If you go to the website, you must print the form and bring it to the event.
No one is allowed to compete barefoot or in cleats.
The winners will be introduced at halftime during Franklinton’s home game on Friday, Sept. 30, against Church Point.
