Ben’s Ford Christian School suffered an 11-0 loss to Prentiss Christian School in the softball season opener on the road Saturday.

The Lady Eagles trailed 1-0 through one inning, and 2-0 after two.

Ben’s Ford had a chance to get on the board in the third when they loaded the bases, but were unable to capitalize.

Prentiss extended the lead to 5-0 after three innings, before adding six more in the fourth.

“We fielded the ball well. We just didn’t make some right decisions after fielding the ball,” Ben’s Ford coach Mark McGehee said. “That comes with inexperience. We didn’t really make contact enough. We have to work on our batting and work on our errors.

“I’m proud of them. They didn’t give up. They kept fighting and continued to play defense. Hopefully we can improve week-to-week.”

Alaina McClelland recorded two hits for Ben’s Ford and she stole a base. Chloe Barber doubled and Celeste Crowe was hit by a pitch and stole a base.

Ben’s Ford is back in action Monday, Aug. 8, in the home opener against Amite School Center.
