Pine got off to a tough start, came back, but came up short to Hammond, 31-27 in the Lady Wave Summer Basketball League at the Ponchatoula Recreation Gym.

“We started sluggishly and let them jump out 14-0. Then we really out-played them from that point,” Pine coach Mary McGinnis said.

The Lady Raiders had balanced scoring.

Breyanna Brown led the Lady Raiders with eight points.

Jasmine Crosby tallied six points while Bethany McGinnis was next with five. Hannah Ard, Karley Voth, Savannah Kennedy and McKayla Jordan all finished with two points for Pine.

In the league, teams play two 20-minute halves with a running clock.
