Bogalusa split its games in the Mandeville Summer Basketball League on Tuesday, with a loss to St. Paul’s and a victory over Pearl River at SPS.
The first game was a 56-51 loss to St. Paul’s.
Billy Mingo had a strong contest, going for 30 points. Jalen Brickmore recorded 10.
Bogalusa coach Ken Matthews said he is proud of Brickmore and that he is really beginning to improve as a player.
Laster Hills scored three points, and had a 20-point outburst in the second game over Pearl River.
“(Hills) is developing into a scoring threat and forcing other teams not to focus so much on our two bigs (Mingo and Tremarcus Levi),” Matthews said.
Levi scored eight points against St. Paul’s.
The second game was a 56-45 win over Pearl River.
Hills had a big scoring output with 20 points, which included six 3-pointers. Levi scored 14 and Mingo finished with 13.
K.J. McGowan added three points, while Malon Robertson, Brickmore and Timajah Peyton all had two in the victory.
“All around, it was a great team effort,” Matthews said. “We were able to play tough teams and still get looks from every player. The whole team was able to play and contribute in one fashion or another.”
Contests in the Mandeville Summer Basketball League feature a pair of 20-minute halves. The teams play on a running clock until the final minute of each half, when the game goes into standard clock operating procedures, including stops on every whistle.
