Mt. Hermon’s Kalei Hughes was sixth in the javelin at the Class B state meet, which took place Thursday at LSU’s Bernie Moore Stadium.

Hughes threw the javelin 100-feet, 3-inches at the meet.

Anacoco’s Sydney Staples is the 2016 state champion in the javelin with a distance of 122-8. She won by 2-8 over Monterey’s Braylee Dryg.
