Bowling Green’s Daniel Bischoff advanced to the Class AAA State Meet on Saturday in the 1,600-meters and the 3,200 despite being sick and having to battle a 3-1/2 hour weather delay during the South State Meet at Silliman Institute.

Bischoff won the 1,600 in 4 minutes, 55.17 seconds. The 1,600 was a close race, as Centreville Academy’s Stone Reynolds was second at 4:55.54.

Bischoff was third in the 3,200, as he ran an 11:24. Cathedral Academy’s Jalen McCoy was the winner with a time of 10:48.

The track portion of the state meet is Saturday, May 7, at Jackson Prep in Mississippi. Athletes had to finish in the top four to qualify for state.

Bowling Green was sixth in the team competition with nine points. Silliman Institute won the event with 96.5 points, which was just 3.5 points ahead of second place Centreville Academy, as nine teams tallied at least one point.

Laurel Christian School (24.5) was third, followed by Columbia (22) and Cathedral (21).
