Bowling Green School’s Bischoff, Cowart, 2 relay teams advance

Bowling Green’s Daniel Bischoff, Cameron Cowart and a pair of Buccaneers’ relay teams advanced to South State in the MAIS District 5AAA Meet last week at Silliman Institute.

The top four finishers from each event moved into the South State Meet. The field events are today and the running events take place on Saturday, April 30.

Bischoff was a double-event winner. He captured the 1,600-meters and 3,200. He won the 1,600 in 5 minutes, 6 seconds and the 3,200 at 11:34.

Cowart qualified by coming in second place in the 200 after running an 11.69. Centreville’s Austen Addington ran an 11.31 for the victory.

Two Bowling Green relay teams are headed to South State. The 4×100 squad ran third (49.89), while the 4×200 team finished fourth (1:40). Both teams featured Cowart, Hunter Mulkey, Jonathon Smith and Brady Blount.

Silliman won the 4×100 in 45.52 and Centreville captured the 4×200 in 1:34.

In the team competition, Bowling Green finished third with 24 points.

Centreveille won a close competition with 116.1 points. Silliman was runner up at 105 points, as four teams scored at least one point. Central Private School was fourth with 21 points.

Bowling Green had other athletes participate in the meet.

Cowart was fifth in the high jump (5-foot-6). Centreville’s Britt Netterville won at 6-0.

Smith took sixth in the long jump (17-1). Central Private’s Cole Averette won with a distance of 19-9.

Mulkey was eighth in the 100 (12.66).

Smith (1:02) and Blount (1:04) ran fifth and sixth in the 400, as Silliman’s Trace McManus won in 54.16.

Dillon saladino was fifth in the 800 (3:08), as Addington bested the event in 2:09.

Smith took seventh in the 200 (27.09). Silliman’s Austin Bizette topped the event in 24 seconds.
