Mt. Hermon’s Hughes advances in javelin

Mt. Hermon’s Kalei Hughes qualified for regionals at the District 7-B meet on Tuesday at Hoss Memtas Stadium on the campus of West Jefferson High School.
Hughes took fourth place in the javelin with a throw of 80 feet, 2.5 inches.
Holden’s Kaylee Hughes won the event at 105-5.
Tuesday’s meet, which was hosted by Patrick Taylor Science/Technology, gave the athletes a chance to qualify for regionals. The top four finishers from each event made it to Region III-B meet, which takes place Tuesday, April 26, in Welsh.
Mt. Hermon finished fourth in the meet with two points.
Holden won by 40 points after putting up 121, as four teams scored at least one point. Patrick Taylor Science/Technology was second, followed by Slaughter.
