Franklinton’s Delatte takes top 3 spot in both hurdle events

Franklinton’s Porsha Delatte captured a top-three finish in both hurdle events and Danaria Magee posted a runner-up finish during the Cowboy Relays, which took place Tuesday at Jewel Sumner.

Delatte was second in the 100-meter hurdles, running in 17.22 seconds. West Feliciana’s Kennedy London won the event at 17.12 in a close race. Delatte took third in the 300 hurdles with a time of 56.69. Kentwood’ Kevineisha Morris was the winner in 52.09.

Magee was second in the javelin with a throw of 90 feet, 10 inches. Teammate Hayle Davidson was sixth at 56-1. Port Allen’s Jaquan Collins won the event with a 91-2 distance.

Magee was also 14th in the shot put at 18-3. Teammate Marlaysia Robertson was 11th at 24-1. Sumner’s Breashlee Jones was the winner at 40-1.5.

In the team competition, the Lady Demons finished eighth with 29 points.

Port Allen tallied 117 points to win.

West Feliciana (105) was second, followed by Kentwood (77), Loranger (69) and Sumner (66), as eight teams recorded at least one point.

Franklinton was the only local team in the meet.

The Lady Demons’ two relay teams, 4×100 (54.42 seconds) and 4×200 (1 minute 57 seconds) finished sixth. The 4×100 group included Delatte, Jada Thompson, Jayln Bickham and Tellise Magee. The 4×200 team featured Bickham, Tellise Magee, Delatte and India Dickerson.

West Feliciana won both the 4×100 (50.24) and 4×200 (1:45).

Tellise Magee (13.85) and Thompson (14.15) were 12th and 15th in the 100. Port Allen’s Rhenell Lee was victorious in 12.60.

Tellise Magee (29.54) and Deja Conerly (29.97) were 12th and 17th in the 200, as Lee won in 25.97.

Rockelle Bryant was fifth in the 800 (3:04) and 1,600 (7:08). Teammate Mattie Williams finished 10th for the 800 (3:30). Port Allen’s Jasmine Allen won the 800 in 2:43 while Sumner’s Emma McDonald was victorious in the 1,600 in 6:28.

Kaitlyn Boughton (63-10) and Danaria Magee (45-6) were seventh and 12th in the discus, as West Feliciana’s Tynesha Williams won at 82-3.

In the 400, Drahcir Magee was 11th (1:15) as Kentwood’s Aliyah Cooper won in 1:03.
