Lady Demons come up short in 2 close games

Franklinton’s Lady Demons came up short to St. Scholastica Academy and Loranger in District 8-4A contests held Wednesday and Thursday.

Franklinton lost the game against St. Scholastica, 3-2, on the road.

The Doves broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the fifth inning to go in front, 3-0. Franklinton came back with two in the seventh, but couldn’t score plate in the tying run in the 3-2 loss.

The Lady Demons were limited to three hits. Lexi Williams, Anna Miley and Alaina Fussell all singled.

Fussell drove in a run, as did Stephanie Crowe.

Morgan Stafford and Deja Long tallied a run each.

Despite getting the loss, Miley threw the ball well. She went the distance, allowing no earned runs on five hits with three walks.

Thursday’s game was a 3-1 setback at home.

Franklinton took a 1-0 lead with a run in the third inning, but Loranger tallied once in the fifth and twice during the sixth to reflect the 3-1 final.

Miley went 2-for-3 for Franklinton.

Madison LaSalle, Bethany Sandifer and Alyssa Menard all posted one hit. LaSalle scored a run while Sandifer doubled and drove home a run.
