Raiders have 3 players make 2nd team All-District

Three Pine players were selected second-team All-District players as the 10-2A teams were announced.

Jerron Hughes, Trey Cooper and Ty Galloway are all second-team All-District players for the Raiders.

Cooper averaged 11 points per game in league play while Hughes finished with 10.8 points a contest and Galloway posted 10.4 points per game.

This season, Pine finished with a 4-23 record.

Archbishop Hannan’s Noah Griffin was named the district’s MVP. Pope John Paul II’s Brent Rideau was selected the district tournament MVP and PJP coach Krisner Green is the league’s Coach of the Year.

Pope John Paul II won the district tournament and made the playoffs as the 23rd seed, but lost to 10th-seeded Christian Life Academy in the opening round of the playoffs, 93-54. Christian Life suffered a 62-59 loss to seventh-seeded Dunham in the regional round.

Hannan, which won the regular season district title, made the regional round of the playoffs as the 11th seed, but lost to sixth-seeded Rayville, 92-54. Rayville lost in the quarterfinals.

Hannan and PJP combined for four spots on the top team.

Patrick Bossetta and Ross Murray made first team for Archbishop Hannan while Rideau was joined by teammate Shawn Henderson on the top squad.

Northlake Christian School’s Matt Whelan is a first-teamer.

Besides Hughes, Cooper and Galloway, the second team featured Hannan’s Norris Williams.

The all-district honorable mention players are Pope John Paul II teammates Zach Pisciotta and Nick Philips and Northlake Christian School’s Brennan Cooley.
