Franklinton falls to Pearl River in extra innings

Franklinton suffered a 2-1 loss in 12 innings to Pearl River to begin the District 8-4A season Tuesday at PRHS.
Pearl River took a 1-0 lead in the third inning and Franklinton tied the game in the seventh to force extra innings.
Tanner Sanburn reached on an error and later scored on a sacrifice fly by J.J. Jackson.
Mack McElveen started and got a no decision. McElveen pitched eight innings, allowing one run that was unearned on four hits with seven strikeouts and five walks.
Despite getting the loss, Wyatt Verret had a solid night, going 3.1 innings and allowing one run on two hits with six strikeouts and just one walk. The walk was intentional.
The Demons posted five hits — one each by McElveen, Jackson, C.J. Estave, Collin Dominguez and Zack Bell.
