Ragin’ Cajuns comeback to defeat Stetson and move to WBI semis

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns came back to defeat Stetson, 56-47, and moved on to the semifinal round of the Women’s Basketball Invitational at the Earl K. Long Gym on Saturday.

Gabby Alexander, who graduated from Bogalusa High School in 2013, played two minutes for Louisiana in the victory.

The Ragin’ Cajuns trailed 14-4 after the first quarter, but trimmed the deficit to seven by halftime after outscoring Stetson, 15-12, in the second period.

Louisiana then went in front after the third quarter by outscoring Stetson, 24-9, in the period en route to the win.

The win puts the Ragin’ Cajuns in the semifinals against second-seeded Youngstown State. The game is set for today at 5 p.m. in the Cajundome.

The victory put the Ragin’ Cajuns’ record at 23-10 on the 2015-16 campaign.

The win was the team’s 10th consecutive victory.
