Raborn wins tournament MVP

Will Raborn, a former Bogalusa Sports Association player and native of Bogalusa, who is now a member of the Southern Prospects out of Petal, Miss., was awarded the MVP trophy for his performance during the Ballin in Brandon Baseball Tournament held last weekend.

The Southern Prospects went 6-0 during the tournament with a 10-5 win over the Reservoir Dogs during the championship game.

The Southern Prospects are currently ranked fifth in the USSSA 12AA with a 14-1 record. The Southern Prospects have also taken first place in a tournament hosted by Petal and second place in Magee Mississippi tournament.

Raborn, who is coached by Jeff Hinton, is the team’s catcher, pitches and plays third base. During the Ballin in Brandon Tournament, Raborn hit three home runs.

The Southern Prospects are scheduled to play in Chalmette on April 2-3 and back in Petal on April 9-10.

Raborn is the son of James and Leslie Raborn. He is the grandson of Carol Powell and Louise Raborn and Connie and Gerald Little.
