Pine doubles up Amite, Raiders lose for 1st time in 2016 to STA

Pine’s Raiders were victorious over Amite, 12-6, in Tuesday’s game held on the road.

Connor Holmes led the Raiders offensively, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored.

Tate Roach posted two hits — both doubles — with an RBI and a run scored.

Dillon Morris, Jamie Adcox, Landon Fonda, Kendall Sheridan and Kaleb Voth all posted a hit for the Raiders. Morris and Voth scored a run each while Adcox doubled and tallied three times. Sheridan drove in two runs.

Trey Cooper, Rion Terrell and Harrison Jones scored a run each while Dakota Cobb had two runs scored.

Ethan Knight threw four shutout innings of four-hit ball for the win. He struck out six and walked five.

The teams combined for 14 errors, seven each, which led to 16 of the 18 runs being unearned.

The following day, Pine came up short to St. Thomas Aquinas, 7-5, to open the Doyle Tournament in a game played at Aquinas.

Pine trailed 3-0 after four innings, as the Falcons tallied single runs in the first, second and fourth inning.

St. Thomas added four more runs to its lead in the sixth to go ahead, 7-0.

Pine came back with five in the seventh to make it 7-5, but was unable to complete the comeback.

Fonda led the Raiders’ offense with two hits in as many at-bats. He also drove in a run and scored two runs.

Adcox, Knight and Holmes recorded a hit apiece. Adcox drove in a run, while Knight and Holmes scored one each.

Dillon Morris posted an RBI, and Tate Roach and Kendall Sheridan each scored a run apiece.

The setback was Pine’s first loss of the season. The Raiders began the year 9-0.

Aquinas remained undefeated at 12-0.
