Pine goes 3-0 in L.W. Higgins Tournament

Pine’s Raiders captured all three games in the L.W. Higgins Tournament, which took place Thursday through Saturday, to move to 7-0 on the season.

After defeating Fisher, 4-1, Thursday, the Raiders played two games on Saturday and won both contests.

The first one was a 12-0 victory over De La Salle in five innings.

Pine broke open a 4-0 lead with five runs in the fourth inning to make it 9-0 before adding three more in the fifth.

Dillon Morris and Jamie Adcox led the way offensively with three hits each. Both players drove in a run and scored four runs apiece. Morris also had a double.

Connor Holmes posted two hits and three RBIs for Pine.

Ethan Knight, Rion Terrell and Harrison Jones all had one hit.

Knight drove in two and scored a run while Terrell had an RBI and scored a run.

Trey Cooper and Tate Roach drove a run home each and Kendall Sheridan and Kaleb Voth both scored a run.

The Raiders took advantage of five De La Salle errors and finished with eight unearned runs.

Winning pitcher Jones went all five innings, allowing one hit with four strikeouts and four walks.

In the next game, Pine edged the host team Higgins, 6-5.

The Raiders led 6-1 after four innings, but Higgins began to come back and tallied four in the fifth to close the gap to 6-5. Pine held Higgins scoreless the rest of the game and hung on for the victory.

The Raiders pounded out 14 hits, led by Morris, who went 3-for-4 with a run scored.

Adcox, Cooper, Knight and Holmes all posted two hits.

Adcox scored two runs while Copper and Knight both doubled. Cooper had an RBI and scored a run.

Knight doubled and drove in two. Holmes also had an RBI. Roach, Terrell and Jones had a hit each, and Roach scored a run.
