Franklinton Baseball Tournament scheduled to begin tomorrow

The Franklinton High School Baseball Tournament is scheduled to take place tomorrow through Saturday, with games at Franklinton and Pine.

On Thursday, fans have a chance to see a doubleheader at Franklinton.

The opener features Loranger and Ponchatoula in a matchup of Tangipahoa Parish schools at 4 p.m.

After that, the host team faces Jewel Sumner with the first pitch set for 6:30 p.m.

One game takes place at Pine on Thursday, as the Raiders are playing against Kentwood with the action beginning at 6 p.m.

Four games are on tap for Friday — two each at Franklinton and Pine.

Beginning at 3:30 p.m. at Franklinton, Loranger and Kentwood battle each other before Franklinton takes on Ponchatoula at 6 p.m.

Over at Pine, Ascension Christian is playing Jewel Sumner at 4 p.m. and then Pine is battling Amite at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, both fields are having a tripleheader.

Things get under way at Franklinton at 10 a.m., as Kentwood faces Amite.

The next two contests, which are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m., feature Ascension Christian. The team plays Ponchatoula at 12:30 and Franklinton at 3.

Saturday’s action starts at 11 a.m. at Pine.

In the first game Loranger is going against Jewel Sumner.

The next two games feature Varnado. The Wildcats are set to play their first game at 1:30 p.m. against Amite before the tournament wraps up at 4 p.m. with Varnado going against Pine.

Rain is in the forecast for the next few days, which could affect games.
