FHS goes 3-1in recent games

Franklinton posted a 2-1 record in the Ponchatoula Tournament, which took place Thursday and Friday.

After defeating Holden, 15-0, Thursday, Franklinton played two games Friday and split the two.

The first was a 5-0 win over Jewel Sumner.

C.J. Estave went 2-for-4 with two runs batted in and a run scored.

Jamarian Crain, Mack McElveen, Collin Dominguez, Wyatt Verret and Jared Jenkins all had one hit for the Demons.

Crain tallied a run. McElveen tripled and drove in a run while Dominguez, Verret and Jenkins all had one RBI.

Dominguez and Trent Varnado scored a run each.

Jenkins got the win, allowing five hits with nine strikeouts, a walk and a hit batter in a complete game.

The next game was a 2-0 loss to Ponchatoula.

The Demons had five hits. Verret singled and doubled while Estave doubled. Crain and Tanner Sandburn both singled.

Hunter Maxwell was solid on the mound. He threw five innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits with five strikeouts.

Estave threw a scoreless inning in relief.

On Monday, the Demons were victorious over Jewel Sumner, 15-1, in six innings.

Estave and Sandburn led the way offensively.

Estave went 3-for-4 with a double, four runs batted in and a run scored. Sandburn also logged three hits. He drove in three and tallied twice.

Verret had two hits, including a double and three runs scored.

McElveen, Zack Bell, Ty McGhee and Caleb McKenzie all had one hit. McElveen drove in two runs and scored three. Dominguez crossed the plate twice. Bell tallied once, McGhee drove in two and scored a run and McKenzie finished with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Also for FHS, Crain scored a run.

McKenzie was the winning pitcher. He went all six innings, allowing two hits with 11 strikeouts and a walk. The run was unearned.
