FHS’ Ginn, Chauvin victorious in Northlake Golf League

Franklinton’s Zach Ginn won the boys individual top spot and Faith Chauvin was victorious in the girls, as both FHS golf teams won first place in the second week of the Northlake Golf League Tuesday at Pinewood Country Club in Slidell.

Ginn bested the field of 22 with a round of 38, as the group played nine holes. Ginn won by two strokes over Loranger’s Kristofer Kerr.

Lakeshore’s Mike Hopkins finished third with a 43, which was one stroke better than Franklinton’s Cameron Gatewood and Lakeshore’s Jacob McCullum, who rounded out the top five with a 47.

The group took the top four scores from each squad for team honors. Franklinton won the event with a 180.

Besides Ginn and Gatewood, Franklinton’s Cort McCullough carded a 48, Dillon Reeves posted a 50 and Parker Watson had a 52.

Lakeshore shot a 204 for second place and Pearl River was third at 239.

In the girls competition, Chauvin won the event with a 53. She won by 12 strokes in the field of 11.

Salmen’s Amder Gougis was runner-up with a 65, followed by teammate Shelby Lipham’s 66.

Two golfers were needed to qualify for team honors.

Franklinton won with a 121, and Salmen was second at 131, followed by Lakeshore’s 140.
