Ben’s Ford Eagles defeat WCCA twice this week

Ben’s Ford Christian School was victorious over Wilkinson County Christian Academy twice this week.

On Monday, the Eagles picked up their first win of the season by winning, 8-1, at home.

Ben’s Ford led 4-1 after five innings and then extended the lead to 8-1 with four runs in the sixth.

Winning pitcher Daniel Pittman went six innings, allowing just one run on three hits. He finished with nine strikeouts and a walk.

Garrett Pounds closed the game out with a scoreless seventh.

Pittman also had a strong day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs. All three of Pittman’s hits went for extra bases. He tripled twice and doubled one.

Ernesto Woods added a hit and two runs, while Pounds had a hit and an RBI. Josh Taylor scored twice and Cameron Miller and Will Adams scored once each.

Thursday’s game was closer, as the Eagles were victorious, 6-5, on the road.

Ben’s Ford jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first, but Wilkinson countered with single runs in the first, third and fifth to make it 4-3.

WCCA then went ahead for the first time, 5-4, with a pair of tallies in the sixth, but the Eagles bounced back with two in the seventh to tie and take the lead.

Pittman drove in the tying run with an RBI single, plating Taylor. Tyler Winstead gave the Eagles the lead on an RBI fielder’s choice, sending Pittman to the plate. WCCA recorded a force out at second, as Pittman came home, carrying the go-ahead run.

Pounds picked up the win in relief. He threw two innings, allowing one run on two hits with three strikeouts and no walks.

Pittman finished with a hit, two runs and the RBI. Taylor had a hit and two runs scored.

C.J. McClelland and Preston Lee posted a hit each.

Winstead scored a run and drove in two and Ernesto Woods had a run scored.
