Franklinton went 2-2 in WGNO Classic last weekend

Franklinton posted a 2-2 record in the WGNO Classic, which took place Thursday-Saturday in various locations.

After defeating Riverside Academy, 5-1, in Thursday’s action at Chalmette, the Demons were victorious over St. Paul’s School, 6-4, Friday at Kirsch Rooney Stadium.

Mack McElveen went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple. He scored two runs and drove in a pair of runs.

Jamarian Crain had a hit and two runs, while C.J. Estave posted a hit and two RBIs.

Zack Bell and Collin Dominguez both logged a hit and an RBI and Wyatt Verret had a hit for the Demons.

Winning pitcher Caleb McKenzie went six innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits with five strikeouts and four walks.

Estave picked up the save with a scoreless seventh. He allowed one hit with two strikeouts and a walk.

Franklinton lost both games Saturday.

The first contest was a 13-3 setback to Jesuit at Kirsch Rooney.

The Demons led 1-0 after one, but the Blue Jays scored seven in the second to go up 7-1.

Bell had a hit in both of his at bats and he drove in a run.

Verret recorded a hit and an RBI while McElveen posted a hit.

Later that day, Franklinton suffered a 3-1 loss to Chalmette at Zephyr Field.

The Demons were limited to just two hits — one each by Dominguez and Crain. Dominguez’s hit was a double and he later scored.

Freshman Jared Jenkins went five innings and allowed just one earned run on three hits and did not walk anybody.

Freshman Verret pitched one inning.
