LHSAA boys basketball playoffs begin today

The 2016 boys basketball postseason tips off tonight for four teams in Washington Parish. Two of those teams are hosting games.

In Class 4A, Franklinton, the No. 14 seed, is at home facing No. 19 Bastrop with gametime set for 7 p.m.

The winner of tonight’s contest plays either No. 3 Edna Karr or 30th-seeded South Lafourche in the regional round.

Also hosting a game tonight is Varnado. The Wildcats enter the Class 1A postseason as the fifth-seeded team. They will face No. 28 Ascension Episcopal at 6:30 p.m.

The winner of the game advances to the regional round to play either No. 12 Covenant Christian Academy or No. 21 North Central.

Bogalusa and Mt. Hermon are on the road tonight.

The No. 21-seeded Lumberjacks are traveling to Shreveport for their Class 3A contest against 12th-seeded Green Oaks at 7 p.m.

The winner will face either No. 5 Patterson or 28th-seeded Lutcher in the next round.

In Class B, 28th-seeded Mt. Hermon is on the road against fifth-seeded Midland on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

The winner advances and plays either No. 12 Glenmora or No. 21 Castor in the regionals.

No. 28 Ascension Episcopal

No. 28 Mt. Hermon at No. 5 Midland, 6:30 p.m.
