Franklinton boys, girls win opening week of Northlake Golf League

Franklinton’s boys and girls golf team topped the opening week of the Northlake Golf League, which took place Tuesday, at Money Hill Golf and Country Club in Abita Springs.
In the boys, Franklinton’s top four golfers combined to shoot a 197.
Team scores were calculated by taking the top four golfers.
The Demons won the event by 20 strokes over runner-up Loranger, and Lakeshore tallied a third-place finish with a 232.
Pearl River competed, but did not have enough participants to qualify for a team score.
Individually, Franklinton’s Zach Ginn was second with a 43, as the golfers played nine holes.
Ginn was runner-up to Loranger’s Kris Kerr, who carded a 36.
Loranger’s Wade Baham was third at 45, followed by Franklinton’s Cort McCullough, who was fourth with a 51.
Three golfers tied for fifth in the field of 18, including Franklinton’s Dillon Reeves and Lakeshore teammates Michael Hopkins and Jacob McCullum.
On the girls’ side, the top two golfers from each squad were used in determining the team score.
The Lady Demons won with a 126 while Lakeshore posted a 140. Pearl River had just one golfer and did not qualify for a team score.
Individually, Franklinton’s Raven Spinks captured the first week with a 61 over the nine holes.
Pearl River’s Kayleigh Reneau was second at 62 while Franklinton teammates Faith Chauvin and Hannah Henn took third and fourth at 65 and 67 in the field of six.
