Varnado captures overtime win

Varnado’s Wildcats were victorious over St. Martin’s Episcopal School, 62-48 in overtime, in a road game held Friday in District 8-1A.
Delrick Abrams recorded a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
Andre Jones and Errol Varnado posted 11 points each. Jones also had a double-double, as he pulled down 12 boards.
Nick Darden, who is normally a shooting guard, stepped up his game at point guard, as D.J. Jefferson did not play in the contest because of a knee injury.
Darden had a solid performance, filling up the stat sheet. He played the entire game and scored 10 points, grabbed seven boards and dished out seven assists.
Damon Kirsch added six points in the win.
The game was tied, 43-43, through regulation. The Wildcats took control of the overtime period early, scoring the first nine points.
Varnado improved to 16-4 overall and 7-1 in district.
