Fans will not be allowed to attend athletic events between Bogalusa and Amite for the rest of the school year.

“The administrations of Bogalusa High School and Amite High School, met to discuss upcoming athletic events between Bogalusa High School and Amite High School,” Bogalusa principal Lesley McKinley said. “After discussing the recent events along with the sanctions issued by the LHSAA in reference to our game ending fight during the quarterfinal playoff game, the administrations have decided to close all of our athletic competition to the public for the rest of this 2015-2016 school year.

“We both feel it would be in the best interest of our schools to compete on the field of athletics without the presence of fans.”

McKinley said it would give both schools and communities time to heal and put the unfortunate incident behind them.

“The only people allowed to attend the remaining contests between the two schools will be game officials, principals, coaches, official score keepers, clock operators, student athletes of the sport being played, superintendents, and local law enforcement officials,” McKinley said. “We agreed that we would keep this ban in place until after the 2016 football season.”
