Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal announced Monday that Brent Jones has joined his staff to head up grants management and policy development.
The son of Jean McNeese Jones and the late Sheriff Aubrey Jones, Jones is a lifelong resident of the Pine/Thomas community and a member of Crain’s Creek Baptist Church. He is a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University with a bachelor of arts degree in general business, with a concentration in office administration. His minor was in management.
Brent is a former division chief for the District Attorney’s Office, where he supervised the Family Advocacy Division, which included the child support enforcement unit and the juvenile unit. In that position, he supervised approximately 12,000 cases and a staff of 15.
Jones is a member of the Louisiana Support Enforcement Association, serving as president, vice president, secretary and executive board member. He also is a member of the National Child Support Association, the Louisiana Sheriff’s Association and the National Sheriff’s Association.
“I am honored to continue my public service for the citizens of Washington Parish under Sheriff Seal,” Jones said. “I appreciate the trust he has placed in me and I will endeavor to do my best to help him make Washington Parish a better and safer place to live and work.”
Seal said that Jones would be a positive addition to the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office.
“Brent is a great addition to our staff,” Seal said. “Grants management and policy development are very important functions for finances and for risk management. In these litigious times, legal based policy is a must for all law enforcement agencies.
“Brent’s education and experience will be a great asset to our office and we welcome him to the WPSO family.”
