Buccaneers finish 0-2 at Christmas tourney

Bowling Green School’s Buccaneers went 0-2 in the Columbia Academy Christmas Tournament.

The Buccaneers lost to Sumrall in the opener, 64-28.

Bowling Green got off to a rough start, as Sumrall scored the game’s first seven points. Lane Adams, who finished with two points and two rebounds, ended the run with a field goal to make it 7-2.

But Sumrall ran off seven in a row once again before Jonathan Smith — who finished with two points, a rebound, a block and a steal — hit for two, making it 15-4.

Sumrall extended the advantage to 25-9 through the first quarter.

Sumrall outscored Bowling Green, 20-10, in the second quarter and led 45-19 at the break.

Jordan Barnes led the Buccaneers with 13 points on 6-of-12 from the field. He also grabbed two rebounds, made two steals and dished out two assists.

Connor Comeaux had five points on 2-of-4 in field goals. He also had two rebounds, an assist and a steal.

Matt Pierce and Corbin Garris scored two points each. Pierce grabbed a rebound, blocked a shot and made a steal. Garris had two rebounds and an assist.

In a Tuesday, Dec. 29, contest, Bowling Green lost to Lamar Christian School, 61-21.
