VHS Wildcats top Independence in OT

Three Varnado players hit the 20-point mark, five scored in double digits and the Wildcats hit 15 3-pointers in a 104-94 victory over Independence in overtime Monday night on the road.

The game was tied, 83-83, through regulation, which meant the teams had to play a 4-minute overtime period. In the overtime period, the Wildcats outscored Independence 21-11.

D.J. Jefferson led Varnado with 27 points. Jefferson was solid from beyond the arc, knocking down six 3-pointers.

Errol Varnado scored 24 points, including a trio of 3-pointers.

Delrick Abrams had 21 points for the Wildcats.

Armontee Kemp and Damon Kirsch were both in double figures as well. Kemp finished with 16 points, including three from beyond the arc and Kirsch also connected on three 3-pointers, on his way to 11 points.

Andre Jones finished with three points and Isaiah Alexander added two in the win for Varnado.
