Plans for the Downtown Street Fair on Columbia Street are being finalized, but the event is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 12.

Organizer Aundriea Mitchell, who owns Cajun Canvas and More, said the street festival would include live music, food vendors, fresh produce and Santa Claus.

The Street Fair is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Santa Claus will be at the Santa Shack in front of The Daily News for photographs with the children.

“We have 20 food vendors lined up right now,” Mitchell said Friday afternoon. “There will be live music and several performances. All the businesses will have specials. There will be honey and jam available.”

The Polka Dot Tree will have a Snow Village for children and adults alike to enjoy.

Mitchell said children can paint at her shop for a $5 fee.

An antique car show is tentatively planned.

“People ought to come out and do some hometown shopping on Main Street,” Mitchell said. “Everything is going to be homemade. Fresh produce will be available. Most of the vendors will be local. As of right now, we have one vendor from Lumberton, Miss., but the rest are local. We encourage everybody to come out and support your local businesses.”
