Demons cruise to district win

The Franklinton Demons hosted the Salmon Spartans this Friday in their sixth game of the season, with Franklinton earning a 39-7 victory.
Franklinton was coming off a victory the previous Friday against Church Point High School, while Salmen was struggling with a four game losing streak.
The Demons had a powerful showing in the first half, blanking the Spartans.
Quarterback Tahj Magee and the Demons took the opening possession and made the most of the opportunity with a 10-play drive down the field. Dijimon Jenkins had a 24-yard completion during the drive.
Franklinton finished the drive with an 11-yard pass from Magee to Chandler Davis for the first touchdown of the game. Walker Andrews attempted the extra point but it was blocked by the Spartans.
The second quarter opened with Salmen in possession of the ball, but the Spartans eventually had to punt from their own 34 yard-line. The punt was recovered by Vernon Lowe at the Franklinton 30.
Magee led the Demons on another charge downfield. Magee completed a 36-yard pass to Davis for the touchdown. The Demons attempted a two-point conversion but the Spartans defense held firm, which put the score at 12-0.
The Spartans took possession with six minutes left on the clock. The Demon defense forced a turnover on downs at the Franklinton 24.
Franklinton finished off the drive with a handoff from Tahj Magee to Renaz Wilson from the 1-yard line for the touchdown. Walker Andrews made the extra point and increased Franklinton’s lead to 19-0 at halftime.
Andrews kicked off to the Spartans to open the second half, but they eventually had to punt back to the Demons.
From their own 34 yard-line, Tahj Magee and the Demons made a fast 53-yard series down to the Salmen 30. Magee completed a short pass to Davis, who maneuvered through the Spartan defense 30 yards for the touchdown. Andrews attempted the extra point but it went wide, leaving the score at 25-0.
Shortly after, the Demons forced the Spartans to a turnover on downs and regained possession at their own 47-yard line. On the next play, Tahj Magee handed off to Azende Magee who broke away for a 53-yard touchdown run. Andrews was on target with the extra point kick and the score moved to 32-0 at the end of the third.
Franklinton opened the fourth quarter with a quick four-down possession, starting on the Salmen 47. In the fourth down, Tahj Magee handed off to Azende Magee at the 42. Azende Magee again found a hole and broke through for the long touchdown. Andrews came through for the Demons once again and the score was 39-0.
This time, the Spartans answered with a short drive of their own. Salmen quarterback L.J. Leonard scored on a keeper and Eddie Smith added the extra point.
