The 11th annual YMCA Golf Tournament is taking place Saturday at the Bogalusa Country Club with proceeds benefitting the YMCA.
Chief Volunteer Officer Stuart Parker said the YMCA provides support for programs and activities for the people of Bogalusa.
The major sponsor of the tournament is International Paper.
Parker also said more than 60 merchants and individuals have contributed to the YMCA golf classic, which supports the programs the YMCA offers.
Some of the contributions are people showing up and playing in the tournament.
“The revenue we receive is what helps us continue to operate,” Parker said. “All of the support from everyone is appreciated. We’re a nonprofit organization, so we have to self generate funds. We do it through grants, donations from individuals and businesses, membership and fundraisers.”
The grants, donations, membership and fundraisers are how the YMCA provides the programs for the community.
The tournament features door prizes, auctions and placement awards. The top three teams receive awards.
The fee for the two-person scramble is $100 per person or $200 for a team.
The cost includes cart, green fees, mulligans and lunch. There will also be a raffle and an auction.
Registration begins at 10 a.m. Lunch is set for 11 and tee time is scheduled for noon.
