Damien Miller, 17, a resident of Bogalusa, was killed in a one-car crash on Sunday, Aug. 2.

Miller was traveling east on Dock Butler Road in a Nissan Maxima when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. According to the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, it is suspected that speed may have been a factor in the crash and that Miller was not wearing a seatbelt.

Miller was entering his junior year at Bogalusa High School.

He was the son of Christie and Damien Pierce Sr. of Bogalusa and grandson of Joel and Carolyn Miller of Bogalusa and Rudolph and Sandra Pierce of Franklinton.

“Damien was very energetic and was very outgoing and never met a stranger,” Joel Miller said. “He was willing to help anybody he could. He loved his family.”

Crain and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal offered his condolences.

“I extend my condolences to the family of this young man and ask all parish residents to join me in prayer for them during this very difficult time in their lives,” Seal said.
