Milltown Race

The 19th Milltown Race takes place May 30 in Cassidy Park to benefit the service projects of the Bogalusa Rotary Club.

The 5K run/walk road race starts at 8 a.m. Those preregistered by May 27 pay $10, and raceday signups cost $15. The fee for children under 12 is $7.

Check in and raceday registration begins at 6:30 a.m.

Each participant receives a T-shirt.

Pine Baseball Camp

The 2015 Pine Baseball Summer Camp takes place June 3-5 at Raider Field for children ages 6 through 14.

The clinic runs from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The cost is $50 if you are registered by June 1. Walkups and those registered after June 1 will be charged $70. Each camper receives a free T-shirt.

This is a highly instructional camp designed to teach fundamentals of baseball and techniques while building confidence.

The participants will be divided into age/ability groups.

All campers should bring their own equipment.

They can buy lunch and drinks for $5 per day or bring their own lunch.

Franklinton High School softball camp

The Franklinton High School softball camp takes place June 8-12 for ages 5-14.

The clinic runs from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The fundamentals of the all areas of softball will be emphasized through drills and team play. Participants will be placed into groups according to their ages and their abilities.

The cost is $100 for all-day participants and $50 for those going for half of the day. The half-day campers attend from 8 a.m. until noon.

Legends All-Pro Football Camp

The 13th annual Legends All-Pro Football Camp takes place June 18 at Lewis V. Murray Jr. Stadium.

The clinic runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The camp teaches the basic skills of football along with life lessons.

Former Atlanta Falcons’ scout, and current Bogalusa assistant football coach Bruce Plummer, who is the camp director, is in the process of getting coaches for the clinic.

Plummer, a 1983 Bogalusa High School graduate, said former Franklinton High School, and Mississippi State University running back Josh Robinson, who is from Bogalusa, will be one of the coaches.

Plummer said the Bogalusa High School football coaching staff will be there along with Greg Greely, Robert “Big Bird” Smith, Kenneth McSwain, Mississippi Valley State offensive coordinator Ray Caldwell and former Dallas Cowboy John Carter.

SWA Camp

The ninth annual Sports Work Academy Basketball Camp takes place June 20 at the Bogalusa YMCA on Avenue B.

Boys and girls ages 6-18 are eligible to participate.

The cost is $20, and the camp runs from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Longest Day Event

Memory Walkers is holding the Longest Day Event June 20 at the Washington Parish Fairgrounds to benefit Alzheimer’s awareness/research.

Several activities are on tap from sunrise to sunset.

There is having a 5K race at 8 a.m.

Raceday registration and check in goes from 6:30 a.m. until 7:45 a.m.

The cost is $20 prior to June 8 and $25 after.

Everyone who preregisters receives a shirt. Water, fruit and small snacks will be given out at the finish line.

A car/bike show is going on from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. with judging beginning at 3 p.m.

Trophies will be awarded to the top five cars, top two trucks and top two bikes.

Plaques are going to the best in show, paint, engine and interior.

Once Upon a Time Characters by Robyn begins at 5 p.m. with Anna, Elsa and Olaf from “Frozen,” with Jack the Pirate and a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Michaelangelo.

Pictures are available of children with the characters after.

The day concludes with a free concert featuring The River City Hit Squad, which begins at 6:30 p.m.

Concessions will be available.

Saints Raffle

The Bogalusa Chamber of Commerce seventh annual Saints Raffle Tickets are available for purchase.

The tickets cost $25 apiece and only 500 will be sold.

The tickets are for two club level season tickets, for home games only, in section 315, row 17, seats 19-20. It also includes inside parking.

The tickets do not include playoff games.

The drawing takes place in July, and you do not need to be present to win.
