Franklinton’s Keaton heading to state

Franklinton’s Ashton Keaton advanced to the state tennis tournament.
Keaton, who is a junior, qualified in singles by capturing her first match at the regional, which was held last week.
Keaton was victorious over St. Michael High School’s Austyn Germany in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
Keaton lost her next match against St. Scholastica Academy’s Alyssa Asaro, 6-0, 6-0.
The state tournament takes place April 30 at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
Also for the Lady Demons, the doubles team of Cassidy Stewart/Laiton Jenkins were defeated in their first match, 6-0, 6-0, by St. Thomas More’s Caroline Cryer/Sarah Maraist.
In the boys’ competition, Franklinton’s doubles team Aldric Calhoun/Trevor Stafford lost to St. Thomas More’s Walter Hidalgo/Carson Bond, 6-1, 6-2.
Nathan Ackerman was defeated by Lakeshore’s Daryl Lalley in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1.
