Ben’s Ford’s Smith reaches South State

Ben’s Ford Christian School’s Savanna Smith was the only local female to qualify for the South Meet in the District 6AA Meet at Silliman Institute.
Smith advanced to the South State Meet in the shot put. She finished fourth (27-4), as Centreville’s Amanda Brown won the event at 33-4.5.
The top four finishers from each event made it to the South State Meet, and the top five scored points for their respective teams.
The South State Meet takes place at Silliman Institute today and Saturday.
The field events are today, and the running events are Saturday.
Smith was fifth in the 3,200 meters (17:49), as Silliman’s Rachel Melancon won in 14:32.
Teammate Amaya Davis was fifth in the discus (59-7.25). Silliman’s Maggie Brian was victorious with a distance of 110-5.5.
Bowling Green’s Heather Raymond finished fifth for the 1,600 (9:24), as Silliman’s Kayla McNabb won the event in 6:03.
Silliman won the team competition with 95 points, beating Centreville by a single point in the five-team field.
Central Private (50) was third, followed by Ben’s Ford (4) and Bowling Green (1).
