Lumberjacks’ reunion

The annual Lumberjacks’ reunion is taking place May 2 at Bino’s Restaurant in Bogalusa at 10 a.m.

All present and former Bogalusa Lumberjacks are invited to attend.

Franklinton track and field fundraiser

Franklinton’s High School’s track and field team is holding its second annual Barbeque Competition to help raise funds for the squad.

The event is May 16 at the Washington Parish Fair Grounds by the front stage.

The competition begins that morning, and teams have to have their barbeque turned in by 5 p.m.

The event features three categories, chicken, ribs (baby back or spare) and pork shoulder.

Teams do not have to compete in all three categories, but will need to in order to win the grand prize.

The entry fee is $50 and participants need at least 15 servings of smoked meat by their team.

Barbeque plates will be sold for $10 between approximately 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. They will contain two meats from the barbeque teams, a side, roll and a drink.

Participants can also enter an additional appetizer category for an entry cost of $20.

The event will also features raffle. They will be raffling off a Yeti 20-quart cooler at 5 p.m. Tickets are $5 and will be available for purchase at the event.

Legends All-Pro Football Camp

The 13th annual Legends All-Pro Football Camp takes place June 18 at Lewis V. Murray Jr. Stadium.

The clinic runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The camp teaches the basic skills of football along with life lessons.

Former Atlanta Falcons’ scout, and current Bogalusa assistant football coach Bruce Plummer, who is the camp director, is in the process of getting coaches for the clinic.

Plummer, a 1983 Bogalusa High School graduate, said former Franklinton High School, and Mississippi State University running back Josh Robinson, who is from Bogalusa, will be one of the coaches.

Plummer said the Bogalusa High School football coaching staff will be there along with Greg Greely, Robert “Big Bird” Smith, Kenneth McSwain, Mississippi Valley State offensive coordinator Ray Caldwell and former Dallas Cowboy John Carter.

Louisiana Red Devils Basketball

The Louisiana Red Devils Basketball program is holding tryouts April 12 at the Coquille Recreation Park Gym.

Boys from grades 1-12 and girls in grades 4-12 are eligible to participate.

The Red Devils is a travel basketball program with several teams divided up by age groups. It allows players the opportunity to be seen by college coaches and scouting agencies from across the country.

Pine athletic fundraiser

The Pine High School football and baseball teams are having their annual fundraiser to help support the costs of equipment and other necessities.

They will be selling signs to be placed on the concession stand and dugout.

The cost for each sign is $150 per year. When the signs become too worn, they will replace the sign free of charge.

The signs will be displayed for the entire baseball and football seasons.

Car-Bike Show

Mudbugs in Slidell is hosting a Car-Bike Show May 17 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. to help benefit the Robbie Aucoin “Riding 4 Remission” Fund.

Aucoin is a 43-year old, who was diagnosed with stage four bladder cancer Jan. 2.

The cost to enter a car or bike is $25.

There is no fee for fans to enter. The event features food, live music, raffles, a silent auction and more.
