Lady Demons cruise past Salmen in District 8-4A play

Franklinton scored 12 runs in the first and never looked back, as the Lady Demons needed just three innings to cruise past Salmen, 20-0, on the road Tuesday.

The Lady Demons pounded out 13 hits, led by Macy Purvis and Haley Sanford.

The two combined for seven hits, five runs batted in and six runs scored.

Purvis posted four hits, three RBIs and three runs scored while Sanford finished with three hits, two driven in, and she tallied three runs.

Purvis doubled twice, and Sanford doubled once.

Laken Spears totaled two hits and a pair of RBIs.

Baylee Mixon, Lexi Williams, Hannah Adams and Austen Felder logged one hit each.

Mixon drove in four and scored two runs. Williams scored a run. Adams finished with an RBI and three runs scored. Felder’s hit was a double. She had two RBIs and two runs scored.

Bethany Sandifer and Denetra Rayford scored twice each. Faith Chauvin tallied twice and drove in a run.

Sanford was the winning pitcher. She pitched the three innings, allowing four hits while striking out two.

Last weekend, Franklinton posted a 2-1 record in the Brusly Tournament that took place Friday and Saturday.

The Lady Demons lost the opener, 4-2, to Morgan City.

Mixon, Adams, Sanford, Sandifer and Felder posted a hit each for the Lady Demons.

Mixon scored a run for Franklinton while Sanford and Sandifer accounted for the runs batted in.

Sam Buttone scored the other run for FHS.

Adams was the losing pitcher.

Franklinton played a pair of games Saturday and won both.

The first was a 14-4 victory over West Feliciana in six innings.

Mixon and Adams recorded two hits each for the Lady Demons.

Mixon drove in two runs and scored a pair of runs while Adams had two runs batted in, and she scored once.

Sanford, Sandifer, Spears, Chauvin and Felder logged one hit each.

Sanford and Sandifer scored three runs each and drove in one. Spears scored twice and had an RBI. Chauvin and Felder finished with two runs batted in each and a run scored.

The hits by Spears and Sandifer were doubles.

Williams posted an RBI and Purvis tallied.

Winning pitcher Sanford allowed three earned runs on eight hits while striking out three and walking one over the six-inning complete game, 64 pitch performance.

Franklinton’s final game was a 4-3 win over False River.

Adams had two hits and two runs batted in.

Mixon, Purvis, Spears and Felder all had one hit for the Lady Demons.

Mixon drove in a run and scored once. Felder scored a run for FHS.

Sanford posted and RBI, and Chauvin and Williams tallied.

Adams picked up the win after allowing two earned runs on six hits. She finished with seven strikeouts and a walk.

In Monday’s game, Franklinton downed Loranger, 11-1, in five innings.

The Lady Demons put up six runs in the fifth to close things out after taking a 5-1 to the frame.

Sanford led the offensive attack with three hits, three RBIs and a run scored.

Mixon, Williams and Sandifer logged two hits each.

Mixon and Sandifer had a double each.

Mixon drove in two and scored twice. Williams posted one RBI and three runs scored. Sandifer logged two RBIs for the Lady Demons.

Spears and Felder both had a hit and a run scored each.

Adams drove in a run and tallied once while Chauvin scored a pair of runs.

Winning pitcher Adams pitched the five innings, allowing three hits while striking out eight and walking four.
