Bucs advance in South State Tournament

Bowling Green moved on to the next round in the South State Tournament by downing Wayne Academy, 66-36, at Brookhaven Academy Tuesday.
The Bucs had things well in hand by halftime, taking a 44-22 advantage to the halftime locker room.
Connor McCain led Bowling Green in scoring at 15 points on 6-of-13 shooting. McCain also hit all three of his free throws and had seven rebounds to go with two steals, an assist and a block.
Jared Gambino finished with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting, and he knocked down four of his nine 3-point attempts. Gambino had four boards and a steal.
K.J. Robertson posted 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists and a steal.
Brady Goings and Bryan Ottinger put up four points each. Goings, who hit on three of his six shots, added two assists, a rebound and a steal. Ottinger, who was three for five from the field, grabbed three rebounds, and he had a steal.
Dylan Varnado logged six points while hitting both of his field goal attempts. He tallied three rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Jordan Barnes put up four points and six rebounds.
Lane Adams added two points and two boards.
Bowling Green finished 26 of 57 (45.6 percent) from the field.
The Buccaneers knocked down six of their 17 attempts from beyond the arc (35.3) and were eight for 12 (66.7 percent) at the charity stripe.
Bowling Green continues in the South State Tournament tonight. The next game is set for 7:45 p.m.
