Ben’s Ford Christian School got off to a good start but ran into foul trouble in a 55-36 loss to Central Private in a District 6AA road game Thursday.

The Lady Eagles led, 15-12, after the first quarter.

But Central Private had a strong second period, outscoring Ben’s Ford, 23-6, to take a 14-point lead at halftime.

“We started strong and we just didn’t finish strong,” Ben’s Ford coach Mark McGehee said. “Some of the underlying problems were foul trouble early and players fouling out in the second half.”

McGehee said two players fouled out, and both were starters.

McGehee said his team hustled.

“We just shot poor from the field in the second half. My girls didn’t give up. They kept fighting and hustling. They didn’t hang their head and quit. I’m very proud of them for doing that,” McGehee said.

Liv Miley scored 11 points to lead Ben’s Ford.

Savanna Smith and Madison Crawford both had six while Cheyenne Riley posted five.

Emily Crawford and Calli Sprehe finished with four apiece for the Lady Eagles.

Ben’s Ford’s next game is Jan. 20 at Silliman Institute. Junior varsity action gets under way at 4 p.m., with the varsity games to follow.
