Bowling Green tallies 1-1 mark in JP Tournament

Bowling Green’s Lady Buccaneers split their two games in the JP Tournament, which took place, Jan. 2-3.

Bowling Green got off to a good start and beat Starkville, 54-24, Friday.

The Lady Buccaneers jumped out to an 18-2 lead after one and a 33-9 advantage by halftime.

Reagan Moody put up solid numbers, scoring 16 points while grabbing two rebounds, making six steals and dishing out an assist. Moody knocked down seven of her 11 shots.

Kristina Jerrell put up 10 points on 3-of-6 shooting, all 3-pointers. She also added a free throw. Jerrell finished with five rebounds and two steals.

Hollie Waskom and McKinley Seal both posted six points. Waskom also had five boards, two assists, and a steal. Seal tallied two rebounds, five assists and two steals.

Peyton Stogner and Ashley Foret put up four points each. Sydney Watson and Hallie Robertson added three each, and Mason Edwards had two.

Bowling Green, which led by as many as 33, connected on 22 of its 44 shots and had 14 steals.

The Lady Bucs lost a tough one Saturday to Leake, 46-44.

Leake broke a 44-44 tie after getting fouled with 0.8 seconds left in regulation.

The two free throws were good, and Leake had a 46-44 advantage.

Bowling Green’s heave toward the basket was no good, and Leake won the game by two.

Foret had a double-double for the Lady Bucs. She scored 12 points on 6-of-13 shooting to go with 12 rebounds while making five steals and dishing out two assists.

Waskom made all four of her shots on her way to nine points. She also had five rebounds, four assists and four steals.

McKinley Seal finished with eight points, five boards, and two assists.

Katelin Junkins tallied six points on two of two from the field along with seven rebounds and a steal.

Jerrell added five points and two rebounds while Moody logged four points, three rebounds and an assist.

Bowling Green travels to face Centreville Jan. 9. The Lady Bucs next home game is Jan. 10 with JV action beginning at 2 p.m., followed by the varsity.
