Bowling Green downs Centreville

Bowling Green’s K.J. Robertson scored 23 points, while teammate Jared Gambino put up 15, and Brady Goings had 13 in a 70-39 victory over Centreville Academy at home Saturday.

Robertson finished 8-of-20 shooting, including 3 of 6 from beyond the arc. He grabbed nine rebounds in the victory. All of Gambino’s points came from 3-point land where he was 5 of 10. Gambino also had three rebounds. Goings was 6-of-12 shooting and made five steals. Connor McCain scored nine points and tallied eight rebounds. Lane Adams finished with four points and four boards, while Bryan Ottinger, Jon Smith and Sammy Graves scored two points each for Bowling Green.

Bogalusa falls to Jewel Sumner

Bogalusa’s Lumberjacks suffered a 75-65 loss to Jewel Sumner to cap the Jewel Sumner Tournament Saturday. Jewel Sumner led 34-33 at halftime before going on for the win.Kenneth Robertson led the Lumberjacks in scoring with 21 points. He also added three rebounds and two steals. Kenyatta Scott put up 16 points, which included four 3-pointers, to go with five steals and two boards.

Franklinton falls to Mandeville

Franklinton suffered a 54-23 loss to Mandeville in a road game Monday. Chelsea Armand led the Lady Demons with 11 points. Shaikeria Fabré put up four, while Deja Martin tallied three. Denetra Rayford and McKenna Rosenthal finished with two apiece and India Dickerson added one.

The Lady Demons struggled from the three throw line, going 7 for 23 (30.4 percent).

Bowling Green victorious over Centreville Academy

Bowling Green’s Reagan Moody scored 18 points, Kristina Jerrell recorded 17 and Ashley Foret put up 16 in a 69-31 win over Centreville Academy at home Saturday.Moody finished with eight rebounds and five steals. Jerrell grabbed four boards, and Foret had eight rebounds and five steals. Katelin Junkins posted four points and five rebounds, while Natalie Michel added four points. Sydney Watson and Hallie Robertson both had three points and McKinley Seal added two for the Lady Bucs. Bowling Green struggled from the field, hitting just 27 of its 84 shot attempts (32.1 percent), but the Lady Bucs helped make up for it by grabbing 24 offensive rebounds.

Bogalusa goes 1-2 in Country Day Tournament

Bogalusa’s Lady Jacks won one of three games in the Metairie Park Country Day Tournament, which took place Thursday-Saturday.

BHS, which played Friday and Saturday, opened the event with a 65-31 loss to Helen Cox Friday.

JaMaya Mingo-Young led the Lady Jacks with 13 points, while Nylijah Mingo tallied eight. Jasmine May finished with three, followed by Kierra Walker and Amia Peters, who had three and two respectively.

The Lady Jacks played a pair Saturday and went 1-1.

Bogalusa was victorious in the first game, 67-43, over Slidell, as Mingo-Young went for 30 points and Mingo finished with 21 points. Shante Chatmon scored nine points on a trio of treys. May and Walker both added two in the win. The final game was a 76-56 loss to Mt. Carmel Academy, despite 35 points from Mingo-Young. Mingo-Young also knocked down a pair of 3-pointers. Mingo finished with 13 points, while Walker added six.

Varnado loses to Fontainebleau

Varnado was on the losing end of a 69-40 contest against Fontainebleau on the road last Tuesday.

VHS coach Lubertha Peters said her club was playing without one starter for the entire game and another for the first half. Yienna Kemp put up a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds to go with a steal. Peters said Kemp missed the first half with a sprained ankle but was able to play through the injury in the second half. Tarralyn Moses led Varnado in scoring with 16 points, which included four from beyond the arc. Kenisha Kemp added five.

Ben’s Ford topped by Sacred Heart

Ben’s Ford Christian School lost by the slimmest of margins to Sacred Heart, 33-32, at home last Tuesday.

Olivia Miley and Cheyenne Riley both scored nine points for the Lady Eagles. Callie Sprehe finished with six and Savanna Smith added four points.
