Jimmy Magruder Tournament begins today

Franklinton High School’s basketball program is hosting the Jimmy Magruder Memorial Tournament beginning today at 4:30 p.m.

The event, which runs today, tomorrow and Saturday, features both a boys and girls tournament.

The boys tournament is bracket style with a champion being determined Saturday, while the girls are playing a round robin format.

The girls’ tournament has one game each day. Today at 4:30 p.m., Mt. Hermon’s girls face Varnado.

Tomorrow’s contest is at 7:30 p.m. with the host school battling Varnado. It wraps up Saturday with Franklinton going against Mt. Hermon with tipoff at 3 p.m.

The boys’ tournament has two games each today and tomorrow and three on Saturday.

Today, games tip off at 6 and 7:30 p.m.

Independence faces Fontainebleau at 6 p.m. with the winner playing Varnado tomorrow at 4 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., Franklinton is going against Mt. Hermon with the victor facing Grace King in the 6 p.m. time slot tomorrow. Saturday’s boys’ games are at noon and 1:30 p.m., and 4:30 p.m. The teams that lose today will face each other at noon Saturday, while the teams that fall in tomorrow’s games battle at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The 4:30 time slot is the title game, which features the winners of Thursday’s games.
