Pine defeats First Baptist

Pine’s Raiders beat First Baptist Christian School of Slidell, 47-27, in a road game held Monday.

Hunter Cooper led the Raiders with 10 points.

Eight Pine players scored in the victory.

Pine is 3-4 this season.

Varnado wins over Jewel Sumner

Varnado placed four players in double figures and was victorious against Jewel Sumner, 60-55, in a home game held Monday.

D.J. Jefferson led the balanced scoring attack with 17 points.

Delrick Abrams finished with 14.

James Williams had 12, and Damon Kirsch totaled 11.

The Wildcats are 2-6.

Bowling Green downs Starkville

Bowling Green’s K.J. Robertson scored 25, and Connor McCain put up 22 in a 68-51 victory over Starkville in the Madison-Ridgeland Academy Tournament Monday.

Robertson finished 9 of11 from the field, and he knocked down seven of his nine free throws. He also grabbed nine rebounds.

McCain knocked down nine of his 15 shot attempts and all four free throws. He also posted six rebounds.

Bryan Ottinger tallied nine points and three assists. He was good on 3 of 4 from the charity stripe. Brady Goings and Dylan Varnado both had four points, while Jared Gambino and Spencer Graves added two each.

Bowling Green finished 27 of 49 from the field (55.1 percent) and was successful on 14-of-17 free throws (82.4).

The Bucs were 5-2 at press time.

GIRLS

Pine eases past First Baptist

Pine’s Lady Raiders cruised past First Baptist Christian School, 65-17, on the road Monday.

Jadyn Jenkins led Pine with 14 points, while Morgan Thomas finished with 13. Breyanna Brown posted 10 for the Lady Raiders.

Varnado falls to Jewel Sumner

Varnado suffered a 68-56 setback to Jewel Sumner in a home game held Monday.

Tarralyn Moses led VHS with 22 points.

Breanna Holmes put up 16 for Varnado.

Yienna Kemp scored 13 points, while Kenisha Kemp and Ke’arria Green added three and two, respectively, in the contest.

Bowling Green loses to Madison-Ridgeland Academy

Bowling Green fell to the host school in the Madison-Ridgeland Academy Tournament Monday, 63-45.

Ashley Foret was the Lady Buccaneers’ leading scorer with 17 points. Foret, who hit 9 of 10 from the free-throw line, grabbed three rebounds.

Katelin Junkins scored eight points on 4-of-7 shooting.

Reagan Moody logged seven points for Bowling Green.

Kristina Jerrell had five points, while Sydney Watson posted four, McKinley Seal three and Hollie Waskom one. Waskom also had seven rebounds.

Bowling Green struggled from the field, hitting just 24.2 percent of its shots (15-of-62), but the Lady Bucs weren’t bad from the charity stripe, hitting 12 of 16 (75 percent).
