Things didn’t go well for Ben’s Ford against a tough Silliman team in a 39-7 loss to the District 6AA opponent on the road Friday.

Ben’s Ford, which finishes the regular season 6-4 overall and 2-2 in league play, trailed 39-0, but the Eagles avoided the shutout.

On the game’s final play Daniel Pittman completed a 16-yard pass to Garrett Pounds and Destin Pittman’s extra point was good for the, 39-7, final.

Eagles coach Cole Holden talked about the game.

“Turnovers killed us,” Eagles coach Cole Holden said. We had a few blown coverages. We just made way to many mistakes against a good team.”

The Eagles turned the ball over three times with all coming on fumbles. Silliman (8-2, 3-1) returned one of the turnovers for a touchdown. The scoop-and-score was right before halftime. It was, 21-0, at halftime.

Holden said Silliman scored on two of the turnovers.

Ben’s Ford and Silliman are playing once again Friday in the first round of the playoffs with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
