Franklinton won its third straight game, and like the other two, it was in lopsided fashion with a 62-0 District 8-4A opening victory on the road against Pearl River.

Franklinton (5-1), which began the game as the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s sixth-ranked team, has outscored its last three opponents 161-19.

Tajh Magee went 5-for-8 passing for 71 yards and two touchdowns. The freshman also ran for 52 yards and a score.

DeAndre led the receivers with two catches for 37 yards and a touchdown, while Azende T. Magee added 38 ground yards on just four carries.

Martavius James returned an interception for a touchdown, and Varnon Lowe returned a kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown.

Tremario Magee gave the Demons good field position when he returned a punt 52 yards to the 5.

Franklinton coach Shane Smith talked about his team’s play and also praised the backups on their play.

“We came out and did what we needed to do,” Smith said. “We took control of the game early. We played good offense, solid defense, and we did very well on special teams. Our backups got some quality work and did a good job of executing offensively, defensively and on special teams.”

The Demons go for their fourth-consecutive win Thursday when they host the Salmen Spartans.

That begins a two-game homestand, which also includes Lakeshore Oct. 24. Franklinton travels to East Jefferson Halloween night before capping off the regular season by hosting Riverdale.
