Pine Basketball Association Registration

The Pine Basketball Association is holding signups.

They take place Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Old Pine Gym. Boys and girls ages 4-18 are eligible. The cost is $60 per child and $50 for each additional child in the same household. A copy of the child’s birth certificate and the fee is needed at signups. Washington Parish Fair Race

The 15th annual Washington Parish Fair 5K walk/run is taking place Oct. 18 at the Washington Parish Fairgrounds at 8 a.m.

Registration the day of the race, and number pickup at is at 7 a.m. The preregistration fee is $15 and includes a T-shirt. It must be postmarked by Oct. 6. Raceday signups are $20 and include a T-shirt while supplies last. Awards are given to the top overall male and female, the Master male and female (40-older), and first-and-second place for many different age groups. Awards are also being given out for top overall male and female walkers. Signup forms are at www.freefair.com.

USM Lettermen Day

The University of Southern Mississippi Department of Athletics announced its first-ever Lettermen Day, set for Oct. 25, in conjunction with the school’s home football game against C-USA West Division foe, Louisiana Tech. Game time is 2:3 p.m. USM invites all former football players, equipment trainers, athletic trainers, cheerleaders and mascots who received letters.

As part of Lettermen Day, previous letter winners who are not current student-athletes will receive two complimentary tickets to the game, be invited to a pre-game cookout and be recognized as a collective group during halftime of the game.
