Eagles soar in opener

The Ben’s Ford Christian School Eagles kicked off the 2014 season on Friday in spectacular fashion.
In a home game against the New Orleans Home School Saints, the Eagles finished off their first regular season game with a 39-0 victory.
A stunning first half saw the Eagles score five touchdowns.
A particularly notable effort was by Ben’s Ford’s Destin Pittman who scored three touchdowns in the first half.
The second quarter rally by the Saints offense saw a long slow drive downfield that was halted by the Eagles defense at their 36 yard line.
A first down run by Ben’s Ford’s Daniel Pittman put the Eagles at the New Orleans Home School’s 39-yard line.
Coming in off of half time, the Saints’ offense pushed a hard drive downfield, but the Eagles managed to hold them at their 19-yard line.
Ben’s Ford’s offense push back, but was met with a rallied Saints defense which held them at their own 23 yards ending in a turnover to the Saints on downs.
A Saints’ fumble put the ball goes back to the Eagles with 15 seconds left in the third quarter.
The Eagles started the final quarter with a drive and a 12-yard pass to Garrett Pounds was complete for the final touchdown of the contest.
Cole Holden, who in his first game as Ben’s Ford’s head coach, said that they’ve still got some improvement to make, he was proud of his players.
Ben’s Ford will try to begin this season with a 2-0 record Friday, as the Eagles are back home and go up against Amite School Center.
